LAS VEGAS (April 2017) – The Mob Museum, The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, announces its annual recognition of teachers and law enforcement officials with buy-one, get-one admission, along with other special programs taking place in May 2017:

Teacher Appreciation Week: Buy-one, Get-one Admission for Teachers, Educational Support Professionals, Sunday, April 30 – Sunday, May 7, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. Education remains the Museum’s most important function and it is honored to recognize teachers and all who work in education with this special admission rate.

Elks Helldorado Presentation and Book Signing with Stan Paher, “Nevadans: The Spirit of the Silver State,” Saturday, May 13, 1 – 3 p.m. Free for Museum Members or with Museum admission; $4 off single admission for visitors wearing Elks Helldorado button on May 13. Buttons can be purchased at the Las Vegas Elks Lodge or at the Elks Helldorado event which is the popular cowboy-themed outdoor charitable festival and tribute to the Wild West. At the book signing, author Stan Paher will share stories of Nevada’s history from the earliest explorers to the establishment of Las Vegas as a leader in the worlds of convention business, tourism, modern mining and aviation. The first 10 guests to purchase a copy of the book, Nevadans: The Spirit of the Silver State, on May 13 will receive one free rodeo ticket.

Law Enforcement Appreciation Week: Buy-one, Get-one Admission for all Federal, State and Local Law Enforcement Professionals with Valid I.D., Sunday, May 14 – Saturday, May 20, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.The Museum honors the brave men and women who fight tirelessly to eradicate crime of all descriptions from society with special rates during this week of well-deserved recognition.

Wiseguy Speaker Series and Book Signing with Tom Wainwright, “Narconomics: How to Run a Drug Cartel,” Friday, May 19, 7 p.m. Find out what happens when a not-so-brave business journalist is sent to cover the most exotic and brutal industry on Earth. Wainwright will discuss everything from how cartels work, to how cocaine cartels borrowed ideas from Walmart on how to negotiate with suppliers, to how some cartels copied the franchising models exemplified by McDonald’s, to how they’ve even embraced online retailing. Free for Museum Members or with Museum admission.

Community Safety Forum: Self Defense and Personal Safety, Sunday, May 28, 2 to 3 p.m. The monthly Community Safety Forum, held in partnership with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and generously sponsored by NV Energy, will address crime and personal safety; how to avoid becoming the victim of a violent crime; identifying sexual assault and where this threat may be prevalent; explanation of protection orders and how they can be used; how to contact the police in an emergency to report a sexual assault. This month’s presentation will be conducted by Sergeant Denise Lutey from UNLV Police Services. Take-away materials, including information about online resources and self-defense classes in Southern Nevada, will also be available. Community Safety Forums are always free and include admission to the Museum that day, courtesy of NV Energy.

Ready to Roar, a temporary exhibition of Prohibition-Era fashion and culture, continues through late spring 2017. Curated in conjunction with UNLV, the exhibit illustrates the indelible impact the Prohibition Era had on not only women’s fashions, but also their rights and freedoms. Made possible by a grant from Nevada Humanities, the exhibit is held in partnership with the Clark County Museum, Nevada State Museum, Nevada State Parks and the National Park Service. Free with Museum admission.

Museum after Dark, Due to robust guest demand, the Museum continues its extended operating hours: The Museum will continue operating from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Also still available is The Made Experience, a special package pairing a three-course, prix-fixe dinner and signature cocktail at Triple George Grill—just steps from the Museum—with Museum admission for $89 per person. Finally, the Museum continues its nightly presentations, “These Things of Ours: Objects After Dark,” each evening from 5 to 7 p.m. These opportunities enable visitors to learn about behind-the-scenes objects, photos and documents not on regular display at the Museum. Evening presentations are free with Museum admission and free for Museum Members.
